We’re thrilled to announce that Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool Hengrove in Bristol has been rated ‘GOOD’ in all areas following its recent Ofsted inspection on 8 July 2025!
This result recognises the dedication and care shown by the entire team in creating a supportive, enriching, and safe environment where children can thrive. Inspectors praised the newly designed curriculum, the quality of care and emotional support, and the strong partnership with parents that helps ensure every child’s needs are met.
From the moment children arrive, they are welcomed into a familiar and engaging environment. Ofsted noted how children explore activities with “excitement and familiarity” and are supported by secure routines that help them feel safe and confident. Babies form strong bonds with familiar adults, enjoying cuddles when waking from naps, while toddlers and preschoolers confidently explore both indoor and outdoor spaces.
The nursery has recently introduced a clear and ambitious curriculum that supports age-appropriate skill development. While it’s still being fully embedded, the curriculum is already helping children build confidence and independence. In the baby room, the focus is on nurturing relationships and building emotional security. In the toddler room, children are encouraged to do things for themselves, promoting decision-making and self-help skills that support future learning.
The key-person system is a real strength at Hengrove. Parents know exactly who is caring for their child and value the regular communication shared through both daily conversations and digital platforms. Ofsted recognised that this strong partnership with parents helps staff meet children’s emotional and developmental needs effectively. As one parent shared with inspectors, this connection helps them feel involved in their child’s journey.
Language and communication are nurtured through a wide range of songs, rhymes, and storytelling. Children confidently ask for their favourite songs, join in with actions, and enjoy books that spark conversation and imagination. Small group reading time helps children recognise familiar characters and predict what might happen next, building vocabulary and fostering a love of stories.
Children of all ages enjoy daily access to stimulating outdoor spaces. Babies crawl and shuffle toward sandpits, while older children run, jump, and practise balancing on equipment. Activities like digging in the mud and planting seeds help develop coordination and sensory awareness. These playful experiences not only build physical skills but also support exploration and creativity.
“I’m delighted to have received a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted. It’s a proud moment for the whole Kiddi Caru Hengrove team who work with such dedication to create a warm and inspiring environment for our children. We’re all so passionate about helping children learn and grow, and it feels fantastic to have that recognised.”
