Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool Crews Hole celebrates Ofsted ‘Good’ rating

We’re delighted to announce that Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool Crews Hole in Bristol has been rated ‘GOOD’ in all areas following its latest Ofsted inspection on 23 July 2025!

This fantastic result reflects the passion, care, and dedication of our nursery team, who work hard every day to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing space for every child. Ofsted highlighted the warm relationships between staff and children, the focus on physical development, and the thoughtful curriculum that supports children’s creativity, communication, and independence.

Highlights from Crews Hole’s Ofsted report

A nurturing space where children thrive

Children are welcomed into a setting where their ideas, creativity, and emotions are valued. The report notes that “babies laugh and smile as they use their bodies to paint marks on a large piece of paper,” while “toddlers make artwork using flowers and twigs.” These rich, sensory experiences inspire imagination and confidence across every age group.

Building strong physical skills from day one

Physical development is central to the curriculum at Crews Hole. Toddlers enjoy music-making and movement sessions, preschoolers are encouraged to run and explore outdoors, and babies strengthen their bodies as they crawl through tunnels. As Ofsted commented, “children develop coordination and balance,” and activities are carefully planned to support gross motor skills at every stage.

Supporting emotional development and self-expression

The team places great emphasis on helping children understand and express their feelings. “Staff help children understand and express their emotions confidently,” the report states. Through stories and group discussions, preschoolers learn new vocabulary for different emotions, linking their feelings to facial expressions and social behaviours.

Strong bonds and consistent care

The nursery’s key person and buddy systems help children feel secure and supported, even during staff absences. While Ofsted suggested that “some staff temporarily care for several key-children,” which could limit their ability to support individual learning further, relationships are still a strength “staff recognise how vital it is to build strong relationships with children.”

Language and communication at the heart of learning

Children are given time to think, respond, and share their ideas during play and adult-led activities. Staff also “offer extra help to children who do not speak English as their first language” in the baby and toddler rooms by learning words in each child’s home language. There is an opportunity to “extend strategies” in the preschool room to build on this strong foundation.

A happy, motivated team

Ofsted highlighted the nursery’s positive staff culture, stating, “staff report that they feel supported and valued in their role and enjoy working in the team.” With initiatives like family sports days and team-building events, staff well-being is a clear priority, which supports the cheerful, collaborative spirit within the nursery.

Parents feel confident and connected

Families shared their positive experiences with Ofsted, noting that they “feel well informed about their child’s progress” and that their children are happy to attend. Parents also reported feeling more engaged with their child’s learning and are enthusiastic in recommending the nursery to others.

Stacey, Nursery Manager at Kiddi Caru Crews Hole, says:
