Celebrating success: Grandir UK nurseries awarded Eco-Schools Green Flag Awards

At Grandir UK, we’re passionate about creating a greener future for our children and the world they’ll grow up in. That’s why we’re thrilled to share the final results of the 2025 Eco-Schools Green Flag Awards – and celebrate the amazing environmental achievements of our nurseries across the UK.

This year, 84 nurseries applied for the award, with 74 completing their applications by the 31 July 2025 deadline. We’re proud to say that an incredible 89.28% were awarded Eco-Schools Green Flags, marking a huge step forward in our collective commitment to sustainability.

These awards are a true reflection of the creativity, commitment and teamwork our nursery practitioners (and the children themselves) put into creating greener, more sustainable learning environments.

From growing vegetables and learning sustainable practices (through our bespoke Sow & Grow Programme), to nature-based play and recycling schemes, our nurseries are always seeking new exciting ways to embrace eco-conscious education. We also actively link our Eco School activities to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) seven areas of learning, ensuring that every experience from planting seeds to sorting recycling, supports children’s development in areas such as communication and language, understanding the world, and physical development. 

Beyond the award itself, the benefits of eco-friendly nurseries are extensive. Engaging young children in environmental topics from an early age not only helps them develop a deep respect for nature, but also fosters critical thinking, creativity, and a sense of responsibility. These early experiences lay the foundation for lifelong sustainable habits, while also improving well-being through outdoor learning and hands-on activities.
