We are delighted to announce that Pippins Montessori Day Nursery and Preschool in Colchester has achieved an Ofsted ‘Good’ rating on 4 October 2024. A huge congratulations to the nursery team who made this a reality, it is testament to their dedication and hard work!

The Ofsted report features various strengths about the nursery and staff, and highlights the nursery’s commitment to providing a nurturing environment for children:

• Montessori Approach: Leaders plan an ambitious curriculum that follows the Montessori method of teaching. All areas of the curriculum extend to the outdoor area where children benefit from forest school sessions and are encouraged to explore their physical development capabilities in a natural setting.
• Warm and Welcoming Environment: A friendly and nurturing team warmly welcomes children. There is an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children’s interests first. Once inside, the children are eager to play and are inspired to learn.
• Parent Support and Positive Feedback: Parents regularly share positive feedback related to their family’s experience. The Pippins staff regularly share information about their children’s learning and development and give families ideas for supporting their child’s learning at home. Children with special educations needs and disabilities (SEND) are well supported ensuring that they have the resources they need to thrive. Parents overall are delighted with the progress their children are making at the nursery and preschool.

What is Ofsted?

Ofsted stands for the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, and is a UK government body that inspects and regulates educational institutions and childcare providers.

For each inspection, Ofsted produces reports which are available to the public and assess the quality of education, care, and overall effectiveness of school provision and nursery settings on the Early Years Register.

Many families use these inspections reports to help make informed decisions about what childcare provision or education setting they would like to send their child to, covering from early years to A Level education.
