At Grandir UK, we believe that small steps lead to big change when it comes to sustainability. This Carbon Literacy Action Day 2025, we’re celebrating how our nurseries and teams are contributing to a greener future, both through accredited training and valuable, on-the-ground learning for children of all ages.
Carbon Literacy Action Day is the world’s largest climate education initiative, bringing individuals and organisations together to take climate-positive action through accredited training. Designed to build global awareness and empower practical change, it supports participants in making informed decisions that reduce their carbon footprint at work and at home.
Our team at Grandir UK has embraced this carbon literacy journey, ensuring that for the children in our care, sustainability isn’t just theory – it’s practical, hands-on, and age-appropriate action.

This year marks a major step forward in our environmental journey. Following a bespoke training programme accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project, we are proud to announce that one-third of Grandir UK support office employees are now officially Certified Carbon Literate.
This is just the beginning. By investing in climate-conscious learning for our teams, we are laying the foundations for long-lasting culture change across our nurseries and Support Office.
Caron Moseley-Helbert, Head of CSR and Carbon Literacy Trainer, shares:
“Awareness is the first step toward meaningful change. By equipping our teams with knowledge and practical tools, we are helping to reduce our carbon footprints as individuals and as a business. This is only the start of our learning journey, and we are committed to going further in 2026 and beyond.”

Our dedication to sustainability extends far beyond training. In 2025, an impressive 89.28% of our nurseries achieved the prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag accreditation, reflecting our ongoing commitment to sustainability.
Through litter-picking projects, wildlife habitats, food-growing spaces, recycling schemes and energy-saving initiatives, our nurseries are embracing hands-on environmental learning, and children are leading the charge.
We’ve also continued to champion nature-based experiences through our Sow & Grow educational programme and Forest School activities, helping children develop a love and understanding of the natural world. Hands-on gardening experiences boost physical development, well-being, and a lifelong respect for nature.

Across our nurseries, sustainability is embedded into everyday routines:
From dedicated Forest School nurseries and sessions to upcycled crafts (like Little Acorns Day Nursery and Preschool’s brilliant, recycled robot project below), our children learn through real experiences, developing confidence, curiosity, and environmental awareness from the very start of their education.

This year has seen major strides in sustainability across Grandir UK, but we are only just getting started. We recognise our responsibility to model positive environmental practice and will continue strengthening our commitments in 2026 and beyond.
We’re developing new initiatives, expanding staff training opportunities, and planning further sustainability-focused learning experiences across our nurseries. With each action we take, we are building a greener, more conscious community for every child, family, and team member.
Carbon Literacy Action Day reminds us that meaningful change begins with knowledge and grows through collective effort. We invite families, educators, and early years professionals to get involved, deepen your understanding, and join us in building a brighter, more sustainable future.
Because even the smallest footprints can leave a lasting impact.
