Books About Kindness for Children

It’s November, the month that welcomes annual World Kindness Day, 13th November. Of course, this means that our trio of children’s book recommendations are all focused around Kindness this month!

Teaching children how to be kind can help them develop empathy and build self-esteem. By thinking about others’ needs, they’re more likely to make connections and feel a sense of belonging. This can also help them feel happier.

Focusing on how it feels to be kind can help parents to offer stories from their own lives to demonstrate acts of kindness, empathy and generosity in every day life. You can consider recalling some times in your life when you experienced kindness from others, when you were kind to someone else, and how this impacted you. It is important to focus on how good it made you feel to receive or share kindness.

Children are very observant, and they learn a lot about how to treat others by watching the adult role models in their lives. By demonstrating kindness when you are out and about, little ones can watch, listen and live by example.

Read on to discover our top 3 book recommendations, appropriate for each nursery age.
