Anerley Day Nursery and Preschool Celebrates Ofsted ‘Good’ Rating

We are thrilled to announce that Anerley Day Nursery and Preschool has been rated ‘GOOD’ in all areas following its latest Ofsted inspection on 29 April 2025!

This fantastic result recognises the unwavering dedication of the nursery’s team and highlights the nurturing, enriching environment they have created for children. The inspection praised the setting’s strong leadership, inclusive practices, and ambitious curriculum, designed to support each child’s communication, confidence, and independence.

Highlights from Anerley Day Nursery and Preschool’s Ofsted Report

Nurturing and supportive environment

Children feel happy, safe, and excited to attend Anerley Day Nursery and Preschool. Ofsted highlighted the positive, trusting relationships children build with staff, who are consistently warm and responsive. Children confidently seek adults out for play, comfort, or support, reflecting the nursery’s welcoming and child-focused atmosphere.

Well-planned, ambitious curriculum

The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to build on what children already know and can do, helping them progress confidently to their next stage of learning. Babies enjoy exploring textures like sand and water to support fine motor development, while pre-schoolers take part in imaginative role play, such as creating their own hairdressing salon, fostering creativity and cooperative play.

Focus on communication and language

Staff actively encourage communication through interactive story sessions, singing, and play-based discussions. They introduce new vocabulary and allow children time to express themselves and ask questions, helping children become confident and capable communicators.

Positive behaviour and emotional support

Children are supported in recognising and managing their emotions through shared discussions and positive reinforcement. Staff model respectful interactions and celebrate children’s independence, helping them develop strong self-esteem and social awareness.

Delilah Theocharous, Nursery Manager at Anerley Day Nursery and Preschool, shared her pride in the team’s achievement:

The report also highlighted the nursery’s inclusive and well-structured approach to early education. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are well supported through thoughtful, targeted planning, and additional funding is used effectively to enhance their learning and development. Ofsted also praised the nursery’s strong partnerships with families, noting how leaders value parent feedback and offer regular opportunities for engagement through termly meetings and stay-and-play sessions.

To build on this success, the team will now focus on enhancing teaching strategies to consistently offer greater challenge during activities and on improving staff deployment during transitions, so that all children remain fully engaged and supported throughout their day.
