Careers
Recently, we took the time to speak to Georgia McCole, our newly promoted Third in Charge at Kiddi Caru Exeter, Matford Green and asked her a few questions about all things childcare. Read on to hear about Georgina’s story and career in childcare.
“I have always wanted to work with young children and this was the field of work I was keen to explore further, so I carried out my work experience in Early Years. I have loved watching the children develop and get a real sense of achievement in what I do. I have progressed through the ranks and experienced different roles and this has supported me to be the confident, dedicated and passionate educator and leader that I am today.”
“I started at Kiddi Caru in March 2018 and at the time of joining was undertaking my foundation degree via a local college. The company supported me with my hours so that I could start my journey with Kiddi Caru as well as carrying out and being awarded my foundation degree. I joined as a Level 3 Nursery Practitioner and then became a Room Leader covering a colleagues maternity leave. During this new role I learnt many new skills and ways of working. This role then became permanent one for me. I then progressed up to Team Leader and now have reached the next stage in my career, Third in Charge.“
“When I visited for the first time and looked around the nursery the environment was exciting, inviting and very child focused. The location was brilliant for me and I knew people who also worked at Kiddi Caru Exeter Matford Green and they couldn’t recommend the nursery enough. I really liked the fact there would be opportunities for progression and the in-house training opportunities also appealed to me as I always like to learn new skills. I am so pleased I made that decision to join Kiddi Caru Exeter Matford Green as we are a family with the children at the centre of all that we do.”
“I love watching the children develop, thrive and progress. I really enjoy seeing the children’s ‘can do’ approach when being challenged in their learning. It’s so special building bonds with families and being that extension of home, so that we are all working together in the best interest for the child. I also enjoy supporting and mentoring the team around me to be the best they possibly can in their roles and what they can offer the children and families.”
“Learning even more about the running of a nursery alongside the nursery management team and continuing to evolve and develop what we do as a whole nursery to drive the best outcomes for the children.”
“DO IT! It is the most rewarding job. Yes, it can be hard work but it is so much fun and no two days will ever be the same, which is so exciting as a practitioner and leader. It is so rewarding to meet new families and building positive relationships and binds with them and I can’t think of any other profession that would give me as much satisfaction as I have today. “
We are thankful to each of our nursery teams for their care, support, and hard work every day. You could be a part of an environment like this, follow the links below to find out more:
